Scholarship Name:
National Aviation Explorer Scholarship
Purpose:
“The intent of these scholarships is to identify and reward those individuals who best exemplify the qualities that lead to success in the aviation industry,”
Eligibility:
- Must be an undergraduate student
- Must attend a technical school
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Restricted to students studying Aviation/Aerospace
- Restricted to individuals with the following interests: aviation or leadership
- Must be participant of the Learning for Life Exploring program.
Value:
The National Aviation Exploring Committee awards individual scholarships annually between $3,000 and $10,000 to aviation Explorers pursuing a career in the aviation industry.
Types of scholarships:
-Degree Leading to an Aviation Profession ($10,000): awarded to an aviation explorer accepted or attending an accredited college or university in pursuit of a degree leading to an aviation profession. Provide a copy of your high school or college transcript
-Avionics ($3,000): awarded to an aviation explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are
attending an accredited school in an avionics repair program
-Pilot (Pilot Certificate) ($3,000): awarded to an aviation explorer pursuing their recreational or private pilot certificate (any type aircraft) and are not restricted to those pursuing a career in aviation. Flight training must be
completed within one year
-Maintenance ($3,000): awarded to an aviation explorer high school seniors or college students who plan to or are
attending an accredited school in an aircraft repair program
-Management ($3,000): awarded to an aviation explorer student in an aviation management program (to include design,
engineering, airport management, etc.) at an accredited college or university
Application Submission Process and Completion Date:
Aviation Explorer applications are due in the local council office for approval by March 31 of each year
Council approved Aviation Explorer applications are due in the National LFL Office by May 1
The application deadline is May 1, and applications are submitted by email.
Scholarships will be awarded each year by July 1st
Selection Process:
- Applicants must be currently registered and active in an Aviation Explorer post, and students under age 18 must have a parent or guardian signature on the application.
- Three letters of recommendation (aviation post advisor, aviation professional, teacher, employer, community leader, etc.) should accompany the application. Award winners will be notified by email July 1.
