History/Background:
Fred became interested in the Experimental Aircraft Association in the 1950’s and was a founding member of
Chapter 240 (EAA 240). Over the years Fred earned numerous awards including the prestigious EAA
Major Achievement Award. He was also a member of the OX-5 group and the QBs (Quiet Birdmen). After
more than 60 years of dedicating his love to aviation, Fred retired in 2004 and “went west” at the age of 89 in
March of 2007. Chapter 240 (EAA 240) used a bequest from Fred to fund a scholarship in his memory for
young people interested in learning to fly and deserving of financial assistance.
