ExpressJet Airlines Employee Scholarship Varies
Purpose:
The ExpressJet Employee Scholarship Program offers $2,000 scholarships to employees and their eligible dependents who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice, and are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Eligibility:
The ExpressJet employee scholarships are awarded to students pursuing higher education at an accredited institution. Employees must be active, in good standing and employed with ExpressJet at least one year to be eligible for the Scholarship. Eligible dependents include spouse, domestic partner, and children up to age 24 (natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee).
Value:
If selected as a recipient, employees receive a $2,000 scholarship (full-time or part-time student status), and dependents who are full-time students will receive $2,000 and dependents who are part-time students will receive $1,000. Each year the Board determines how many awards will be granted based on available funds. Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they are eligible.
Application Submission Process and Completion Date:
The application must be completed via the employee internal website. The previous years awards were awarded on August 3, 2015.
Selection Process:
Recipients will be selected by the ExpressJet Scholarship Board, made up of ExpressJet employees*, on the basis of academic record; work/volunteer experience; statement of educational goals; unusual or challenging personal circumstances; and a letter of recommendation. Financial need is not considered. All applications are anonymized before review where all identifying information including gender is removed.
*Neither Board members nor their dependents are eligible for the Scholarship the year they serve.
