Aviation and Professional Development Scholarship
Purpose:
The Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) is dedicated to advancing minorities and women pursuing careers in the aviation industry. This scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates an interest and desire to pursue a career in the aviation/airport industry and seeking a BS or BA in Aviation, Business Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Engineering, or Finance. Four scholarships awarded.
Eligibility:
• The applicant must demonstrate interest and desire to pursue a career in the aviation/airport industry and seeking a B.S. or B.A. in Aviation, Business Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Engineering or Finance.
• Must be a high school student accepted or an undergraduate student enrolled at an approved accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Involvement in community activities and extracurricular activities.
• A commitment to involvement in furthering the mission of the Airport Minority Advisory Council by participating in the AMAC Student Program.
• Successfully complete and submit application materials as further outlined.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
Ongoing Commitment:
Scholarship recipients will be required to continually maintain all of the eligibility requirements as outlined above during the awarded term AND provide supporting documentation. Recipients are also required to:
● Become a student member of AMAC; annual membership fee is $25.
● Communicate with AMAC once during the school term scholarship is awarded.
● Submit a semester progress report and copy of grades to show proof of maintaining required GPA.
● Students are eligible for two (2) scholarship awards but must reapply each application period.

Application Submission Process and Completion Date:
Applicants must do the following:
• Complete and sign current scholarship application.
• If applicant is still in high school, they must submit a letter of acceptance from a College or University.
• Enclose official transcript from current High School or College/University.
• Enclose an essay (not to exceed 750 words, please type full name on all pages) addressing one of the following:
- 1. How have you overcome barriers in life to achieve your academic and/or career goals?
2. Explain your dedication to succeed in the aviation industry and how AMAC can help you achieve your goal.
3. What are some of the most important issues that the aviation industry is facing today and how do you see yourself changing them?
4. Past Recipients: How has AMAC been instrumental in your career goals and how have you contributed to AMAC?• Submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation from persons, who are not relatives, that can comment on your academic and career goals. Recommendation letters should contain the following information provided by your reference: name, address, contact number, email, and signature.
• Submit one 5″ x 7″ (400×600 pixels) digital color photograph (in .jpeg or .pdf) suitable for publication if scholarship is awarded.
• Submit a two paragraph biography summarizing employment, volunteer work, awards, and academic accomplishments.
• The scholarship committee must receive all materials no later than the specified deadline.
Incomplete applications or missing backup documentation will not be considered for award.

Applications are due the end of May each year. Corporate and Scholarship Committee review will occur during June with Board of Directors approval occurring mid July. Awards are submitted to the school the first of August.

The AMAC Foundation works alongside AMAC and is dedicated to advancing minorities and women pursuing careers in the aviation industry. The foundation develops educational programs, scholarship and mentorship opportunities, and shares information to support aviation and airport industry professionals, from college students beginning their careers to seasoned professionals.
Since its establishment in 1997, the AMAC Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships for students around the country, supporting a broad range of careers in airports, airlines, the federal government and private sector.
